Griffin and Sabine postcard by Nick Bantock
Hi friends,
I’ve been blogging on this here ‘ol site for a good six years now. I started on xanga and made the switch to wordpress a while back. In xanga-land we had an awesome community feel, with comments reaching upwards of 10-20 per post. These days this blog is silent, save for comments from blog-reader-and-now-dear-friend Julia and my stepmom. (Thanks guys!) I think part of the reason is that I am uploading the site to facebook so a lot of you are commenting there instead of here.
I guess, what I am trying to say is: “I miss you!!” I miss your comments right here on “The Poetry of Life” — christinacrook.com.
I want to know my readers, ‘talk’ with you and interact with your feedback and comments. I want to know what parts of this site you love — confessions? poetry? words for thought? pictures? recipes? snapshots of life? Please share your thoughts…
Here’s how I hope to get you to say “Hi!” –
Comment below (here, on the blog, not on facebook) and include your mailing address (if you prefer not to write it on the site, leave your e-mail address and I will send you a message to get it.)
Within the week I will mail you a postcard with a type-written quote! I have a vast collection of postcards — Griffin and Sabine, CBC Radio 3, vintage ones collected at garage sales… Request one, or wait and be surprised! I’ll feature the cards and quotes here in the weeks to come.
Hoping to hear from you…
xo Christina

You might find you get readers coming to your actual blog from facebook if you post the link to your post, rather than the entire post. I personally prefer this, as facebook has weird stuff about content being posted on facebook becoming their property etc, so I don’t like posting anything I write in its entirety. Anyways, when I was posting on my blog with more regularity, I found that I got a fair amount of traffic that way.
I think you know my address, if you don’t, I can email it to you or give it to you on Thursday when you come to my house. lots of love, Avital
good tip, mama vee. i’ll start doing that. and i have your address — so expect a postcard!! ;)
Hey Christina,
you’re feeling lonely on here :o( I hate lonely feelings…sometimes I get feeling like that up here in academia…everyone is serious, and somewhat caught up in, well, themselves. All my close friends are not up here with me, and that can suck!
Keep posting, you’re blog brightens my day :OP I love how I got to meet you through it…what a cool story to tell!
P.S. the posts I enjoy the most are the ones where you reflect on life…be it a poem or a post in pictures :)
oh man, i’m the WORST at commenting. i feel like i comment on your blog all the time, but i think i just think about it in my head and then forget to actually write anything. sorries.
i like the “snapshots of life” type posts, makes me feel like I actually see you on a regular basis. oh and i’d like to request a cbc radio 3 postcard!
i’m horrible at commenting as well, but have definitely been following your blog since the xanga days.
although it’s hard to pick what i like best, i’d have to say the poetry and photos. seeing what other people are doing always inspires me to keep creating.
Wonderful! Photos and poetry are forthcoming… They too are my favourite things. Thanks for commenting, ladies. I love hearing from you.
Keep the comments coming!!! Postcards are ready and raring to go.

Such Blatant Bribery!
Do I get a postcard?
Oh the good old days of Xanga, when I was writing about my exciting adventures from the ends of the world! Now my most exciting adventures include such favourites as, “Leaving Marpole: Really?” and “Today My Baby Had a Near-Death Experience: Again”
My favourite part of your blog is when you write about your baby’s near death experiences. They make me feel like a better mother. Oh, and I also like your poetry and your photos!
Can’t wait for your postcard… 8529 Oak St, Vancouver, V6P 4A9
(because I LOVE getting mail, even from weird people who got my address from the internet!)
Yes dear, of course you do!
Marisa you need a blog, seriously.
i truthfully love your own writing style, very useful,
don’t give up as well as keep penning considering it simply just that is worth to read it.
excited to read alot more of your current stories, have a great day :)
cool news.
