3 AM Love
Madeleine wakes with a stumble of pure joy. All squeals and wild giggles. Face ablaze with laughter, peering through whispers of moonlight. A toothless flurry of smiles, all for me. Mama, I see you…
I hear of newborn babies sleeping through the night and for a moment my mind flickers with jealousy, but the picture of my daughter’s saucer eyes eclipses the emotion. My heart crests. A gentle ache. Darling, I see you…
It’s our moment. This 3 AM love.

I found you through a comment on Miranda’s site. You share a fondness for poetic imagery. This is a lovely piece.

I’d like to share this with all the new moms I visit as a public health nurse! It is my colleagues’ and my goal to normalize babies who do not sleep through the night. After all, babies who don’t are normal, the ones who do are the exception. Furthermore we need to stop measuring parental achievement by whether or not babies are sleeping through the night. I’m so glad to see that you are finding all the beautiful angles of parenting your babe.
Thanks Andrea! I am so glad you stopped by. :) I can’t say it is easy, but it IS worth it… Feel free to share this with whomever you like.
